How to Buy a Gun Online
Buying a firearm online is legal and simple. Federal law requires the gun to go through a licensed dealer (FFL) near you, who does the paperwork and background check. Here's the whole process.
1. Choose your gun and check out
Add your firearm to the cart and pay online. At checkout you'll pick the FFL dealer you want it shipped to: usually a local gun shop, pawn shop or range.
2. Pick your local FFL dealer
- Call them first. Ask: "Do you accept transfers from online dealers, and what's your fee?" Most do, for a small fee paid to them.
- Handguns must go to a dealer in the state where you live.
- Rifles and shotguns can generally go to a dealer in your home state, or in another state if the sale is legal in both states.
- The dealer sends us a copy of their license. We can't ship until we have it on file.
3. We ship it to your dealer
Once your order and the dealer's license are confirmed, we ship to them. You'll get tracking. Firearms never ship to a home address.
4. Pick it up
- Bring a valid government photo ID with your current address.
- Fill out ATF Form 4473 and pass the background check (NICS).
- Age: 18+ for rifles and shotguns, 21+ for handguns from a licensed dealer.
Where we can't ship
We currently do not ship firearms to California, Illinois or New York. Some states and cities have their own restrictions on certain firearms, magazines and ammunition. It's your responsibility to know your local laws; your FFL dealer can help.
Important
You must be the actual buyer. Buying a gun for someone who can't legally own one (a "straw purchase") is a serious federal felony. If you're buying a gift, ask your dealer about the rules first.
